Shinigami
The Basics
Name: Sumiyoshi Hiei
Gender: Male
Day of Birth: September 30
Age: 260
Visual Age: ~18
Height: 5' 11''
Weight: 150 pounds
Fighting Level: -
Fighting Skill: - (I'll let the admin choose these.)
The In Depth.
Allegiance: Soul Society
Past Gotei Division(s): Seventh
Gotei Division: Fifth
Seat: Lieutenant
The Outer Physical: Hiei stands at just under six foot tall, quite an average height for someone of his 'physical' age. Typically for someone of moderate height, he is quite on the thin side, although he doesn't look unhealthy. In fact, his body looks strong. Muscle definition is at an all time high with this man, every line perfectly linking to the other.
With green hair long enough to reach down to past his eye's, he appears to style it as to not cause irritation. As such, no hair goes across his eye's, ever. This hair is such a bright color, you can almost recognize him in the dark. His eye's seem to match the color of his hair. They pierce the world with an emerald green glow. This glow in his eye's seems to be something completely unnatural, although it is simply how he was born.
His skin complexion is oddly pale, almost as white as the ice caps. This gives him a look of being ill, but he is in fact far from it. However, because of this, it isn't recommended that he stands out in the sun for too long. By doing so for extended periods of time, he feels weaker and drained. Upon his naked flesh, he has several scars of battle which only a warrior could obtain. His back and chest seem to be the most shocking, with multiple slices and red tissue showing itself to the world. The most extreme of which is a slash across his chest. It goes from his left shoulder all the way down to the bottom right corner of his stomach. A clear sign of a lost fight, and an example of how close one can be to death and survive.
The Clothing:
-Spirit-
His general clothing is quite typical of your everyday Shinigami. There are, of course, a few personalized touches, although these tend to be due to his pale complexion and inability to stay for long periods of time in the sun.
Wrapped around his chest is a white Shitagi, again typical of your everyday Shinigami. Above this lies his Kosode, which is generally wrapped around him so tightly that you cannot even see his Shitagi. It is colored in the general black color that signifies his status as a Shinigami. His legs, however, are a pair of loose trousers instead of the typical Shinigami Hakama. This seems to be personal preference, and to this day nobody has complained about it. His feet sit comfortably into a white Tabi, which in turn stand upon a Waraji.
There is one addition that is highly uncommon for a Shinigami. A black hood that is always sat atop his head. This gives off a shadow that completely covers Hiei's face. While it doesn't actually hide his face from the outside world, it gives him the look of an intimidating, sinister being. While not the case, there's no harm in protecting your face and giving the enemy something to think about, right?
-Gigai-
His attire could be considered odd by modern day standards, yet nobody in the human world has questioned him about it. He wears a suit, although it has several differences about it when compared to most other suits. Firstly, he actually wears a long coat at all times. This has a vent just beneath the bottom of his back, flowing in two streaks towards his knees. It is colored black, the typical color of choice when he is getting dressed. Two buckles hang from the collar of the coat, gold, giving him a hint of importance.
Beneath the coat, he wears a plan white shirt. Around his neck he wraps a tie, colored in the everlasting black he loves so much. This tucks into a waistcoat. Unlike his coat, this is colored purple on the outside, yet follows the color trend on the inside.
His legs are covered with a pair of trousers, pleated at the front to give them the looks as if they are creased at the front. This is simply a choice of style, and shows nothing about his life. Around the top of his trousers are two brown belts, each buckled in the front. This gives him a look of neatness, yet individuality. His boots match the color of his belts. A wood colored pair, with steel toe caps on the front.
Wrapped around his hands are a pair of light brown fingerless gloves. Attached to the inside of the gloves are multiple small hooks. This allows him to turn a simple open-palmed hit into something that could shred skin.
The Personality: Hiei is a genuinely kindhearted person, able to see the good in anyone and almost anything. This is apparent in his way of fighting, as he tends to set himself boundaries, as to not outright kill an opponent if they are weaker than he is. He will often try to help people for apparently no reason, and will in fact risk his own life for the safety and comfort of others. Due to this nature, however, he is incredibly emotional, and is likely to snap if someone were to attack his friends or allies.
If he were to snap, he would become somewhat of a berserker, relentlessly attacking the one who made him snap until they were nothing more than a smoldering corpse rotting six feet under. During this state he appears to feel no pain, no remorse, and only the hatred that fueled the rage. This is but a double edged sword, as he is likely to push himself beyond his limits, and through any injury he may incur, inevitably causing him to make a minor injury serious, or worse.
Another one of Hiei's most interesting personality traits would be his mild vanity. Albeit he is kind in nature, his actions appear to be that of some kind of comic book villain who cares that little bit too much about their appearance. He hates feeling ugly to the opposite sex, and makes sure to be eye-catching at any turn. He is also likely to act flirtatious around women he finds attractive, often giving a heart pounding smile, or a sly wink. However, he is definitely not a ladies man, and is very respectable to women in conversation.
He doesn't really appear to hate anything, his ability to try and see good in anything tends to prevent the hatred. However, one thing he truly detests in those who kill for the pleasure of it. Fighting could always be considered fun, yet if one was to attack an innocent and cut their life short, well, they would deserve the same action done to them without a moments hesitation.
He is also -very- respectable, and gives respect to those around him as if they were at the same level as him. He speaks with a highly emotional tone, sounding a bit like someone who is full of love, happiness and joy. However, when it is required of him to be serious, his voice changes into an almost sinister sound, a slight hint of possible malice being heard within. This is also the voice he uses in battle, if he were to consider speaking.
He tends to show a disliking to Hollow-kind, as expected from a Shinigami. However, he is also empathetic on how they came to be. This hatred for Hollow's is clearly mixed with a need to help then move on. Because of this, he often requests to be put on earth to help clean up the place. He is a man who does his part for spirit world, and simply wishes to make everything feel as if it belongs.
He also see's Shinigami as the race that will save the world. As such, he clearly has a great respect for all Shinigami, be they veterans or just leaving the Academy. This is one of the aspects of his personality that allows him to make friends easily.
Hiei's masked state is somewhat an oddity amongst Vizard. It seems to have been born in an unusual way even for a being of that status. It is said to be a curse of being born Male in the Sumiyoshi family, and likely to be a defect passed down through the generations. As such, this creature could be considered the embodiment of negativity. The darkness within a persons heart has to take form, and Hiei's is the inner hollow.
When this creature breaks free, Hiei turns from a knight to a demon. His attacks become relentless, almost nonstop, and he himself has absolutely no control once he has snapped. He will attack enemy and ally as if they were one and the same.
The Fighting Style: Hiei's fighting style is, in his own words, the ability to "out-think the opponent" . To adjust to any situation, and to overcome any obstacle. While this is a loose term, and could mean any number of things, those that have fought him would agree to such a description.
Hiei see's fighting as a simple process. Every actions has a reaction, and every reaction can have a consequence. As such, he firstly must take into account his own strengths and weaknesses. This could all change depending on the opponent, and as such, it is essential for success. The first part of the fight he simply lets the opponent reveal their abilities. He will push them out, in order to work out how to counter and defeat them.
Once combat has initiated, Hiei tends to stay at distance. He is a very effective close range fighter, but he lacks the strong body to support such strain. Instead, he fights using his Zanpaktou's skills, with kido added in for a bit of 'spark'. He utilizes Shunpo to a very high level because of this.
-Shikai-
When utilizing his Shikai, he makes use of the fabric that is attached to the hilt of his blade. Because of it, he can wrap it around his arm and "drop" it when he needs to use a Kido spell. This also leaves it close to him, so if he needs to quickly get hold of his sword, he will be able to without much hassle. He tends to continue the trend of using Shunpo to get distance, defend with his sword if need be, use the abilities Khione has given him, and mix in Kido when needed. As such, he can be a highly annoying opponent to come across. What he currently lacks in physical prowess is definitely made up for with his intellect.
-Against Overpowering Opponents-
Against an opponent who could make mince meat out of him, Hiei still stands and tries to fight them. He will always try to figure out what they are weak at, and use that as an advantage to survive. It is also during this time that his best truly comes out. He will fight, push aside his fears and try his hardest to win. He is also more likely to revert to melee fighting, as he is actually better at close range than from afar. Because of this, however, he is more likely to get injured.
During a Hollow Takeover, his fighting style changes considerably. The main change is that he takes on a berserker-like state, where he will attack relentlessly without stop. However, unseen by an untrained eye, he in fact fights with complete knowledge and skill. Due to his "Hierro", a hollow ability, he can fight in close range without having to worry as much about his physical body. His attacks all differ depending on how the opponent fights, namely, he attacks the weak points constantly. If there's an area that is hard to defend, you can guarantee he will target it with his next attack.
He is a considerably better fighter than even Hiei. If Hiei was good, the inner hollow is brilliant. While attacking the opponents weak point, he will leave himself open purposefully. This allows him to know what attack is coming, how the opponent will stand in order to use the attack, and thus know his next strike. He is always thinking ahead, and is almost impossible to surprise.
Because of this natural battle knowledge, he can also fight vast amounts of opponents at once. While not he strongest opponent that ever lived, he is indeed one of the most intelligent.
The Shinigami Technicalities.
The Zanpakuto Name: Khione
The Sealed Zanpakuto: Hiei's sealed blade is typically generic of a Shinigami's. It appears as a Katana, with a blade around seventy centimeters long. The hilt is black, with a black piece of fabric hanging from the bottom. This fabric is around eighty centimeters in length, and wraps around his hand quite comfortably. This guarantee's that the blade can never leave his hand, even if somebody tries to disarm him. However, this is not used offensively. It is essentially only used, in Hiei's hands, defensively. As such, the only time the blade leaves his hand is if he needs to defend a position he cannot reach with just the length of his arm and blade alone.
The Zanpakuto Spirit Appearance:
Khione is a beautiful, young looking woman. With white, flowing long hair reaching down to her feet and sapphire blue eye's, she could truly make any man look twice. Her full lips tend to send a shiver down most people's spines, however, as they are as colorless. Almost as if she had been surrounded by ice all her life. However, her smile seems oddly heartwarming, as if she can make the ice she represents melt.
Clothing wise, she appears to be always ready to do battle. Her attire seems to represent a uniform, in such a style it could also show royalty. She wears a long blue coat, reaching down past her knees. The coat is trimmed with gold lacing, as well as several jewels. Her arms reach out from her sleeves, that barely cover the top half of her upper arm with a black and white decoration.
Beneath her coat is a plated armor, covering her chest down to her upper thigh. The same color as her coat, its main utility is clearly defense. Her hands and arms are almost covered with black gloves, only her fingers reaching out from within them. Attached to them, across the whole lower arm, is a plate of metal that could easily be used for defending incoming attacks. Thigh high lace suspenders are attached to her legs, although these seem to offer no additional benefit.
By her side, at all times, is her sword. This weapon is her prized possession, and is said to have inspired the legend of Excalibur. A weapon so light, yet so strong its name would echo through the ages. Its hilt is both incredibly magnificent and elegant. It is black, with several gold designs which indicate a strong connection with the night. After all, it's always coldest at night.
The sword itself is of a high level design. The blade seems to be both strong and light, a perfect combination for battle. The blades length is around one hundred and twenty centimeters, with a thickness of around fifteen. As such, it is a relatively large weapon, allowing for both effective defense and offense. The center of the blade is engraved with several markings upon a blue surface. These markings are said to have the ability to create snow that is so deadly that it would simply create death. The hilt, however elegant the blade is, is truly a work of art. It is black, with several gold rings wrapping around the wielders hand. These rings make for an effective defense and allow for more control over the blades weight (Works like a counter balance). The bottom of the blade is also decorated with a golden design, continuing to spiral around until the four points meet at the bottom.
The Zanpakuto Spirit Personality: Khione could be considered a strong, battle hardened woman. She could also be known as a loving young lady. She looks upon her world with a genuine hint of happiness, and considers Hiei to be her 'lover'. This is in the sense of battle, where they would dance and become one for those few moments. Hiei remembered when he first met her when she ended up pinning him to the floor, her sword resting upon his neck. She is, however, very curious about Hiei's life, and often asked what he has been doing when he is training for his Bankai.
However, once a task has effectively begun, she becomes a force to be reckoned with. A woman who knows how to fight, how to move around the opponent, and how to deal a lethal blow. Once battle is over, she always sheds a tear for the fallen, showing that she is highly connected to Hiei's emotions.
The Inner World: Khione lives in a frosty world covered in gravestones, snow falling upon the land constantly. However, while there is snow constantly falling, there is a distinct lack of clouds in the sky. Instead, there is a starless night, with two moons sitting peacefully within it. Each moon is said to represent the balance between Hiei and the unspeakable darkness waiting to take over. Currently, one moon is bigger than the other. The moon said to represent Hiei.
Khione herself sits by the only tree in this forsaken world. Blackened leaves cover the dead grass, only to hide the tainted ground that lies beneath. These leaves are also covered in snow, much akin to the rest of the inner world.
The entire world is around a square mile, which is surrounded by a wall reaching up to the sky. This wall has no entrance, and as such, no exit. There is no way out until the task in hand has been dealt with.
Within these walls, aside from the tree, there are of course the gravestones. Each Gravestone is said to represent a sinful thought which has been repressed by Hiei. With each gravestone, the second moon in the sky grows in size. As the moon grows, Hiei himself becomes more powerful, but with a terrible risk.
The Shikai Name: Khione: Tsumetai Doki (Khione: Icy Wrath)
The Method of Release: Once his Shikai is released, Hiei's sword goes through a complete transformation. Upon speaking his Call Out Command "Freeze the world with your Icy Wrath, Khione!" his blade seems to look as if it were covered in snow. While this happens, the whole sword seems to grow in length, especially the hilt. He then hits his sword on the floor, the snow flakes falling from the sword to the ground in one smooth move.
Shikai Appearance:
After this is done, his swords appearance has finally complete. The hilt is now around thirty centimeters long, although still usable with one hand. The hilt is now brown, with several icy circles wrapping around it. They are proportioned perfectly to fit Hiei's hands, be it he is wielding it with one hand or with two.
With no guard, the hilt leads straight on to the blade. The whole blade seems to be made of ice, although its cutting potential is higher than steel. As such, the whole blade is a light shade of blue. Close to the hilt the ice is shaped in such a way it appears to be both a symbol and a decoration. This tends to make the sword appear in the same shape as any other of its kind, however, two spikes cut out from the bottom of the blade. These can be used as an additional cutting too as well as the blade. Attached to the bottom of the blade is a long piece of fabric. This is strong, and wraps around Hiei's right arm upon release.
The Abilities of the Shikai: Khione's Shikai ability is both incredibly versatile and easy to use. Upon releasing this state, Hiei can create a blizzard of snow that is directed from the blades hilt. This snow moves incredibly quickly, and more can be created by using more Reiryoku. It generally moves in a straight line where he is pointing, and causes cuts and freezing upon contact. If enough fuel is used, it can even freeze entire limbs. The way it cuts is quite common for Shikai abilities. The mix of Reiryoku with the snow he creates causes the flakes to become both harder than normal snow, and the edges become incredibly sharp. This snow can then be manipulated in ways Hiei see's fit.
Hiei can continuously fire the snow, as his Reiryoku is incredibly high considering his rank.
However, with such a potentially devastating ability, it of course has its weaknesses. While it is generally immune to the heat emitted from the sun, it can sure as hell melt if faced up against a Fire-based ability. Coming up against such an opponent truly limits the effectiveness of this Zanpaktou.
Against an opponent stronger than Hiei, they have the potential to break free from whatever is frozen by using their incredible spiritual energy to break the ice.
As well as this, the actual techniques drain a considerable amount more Reiryoku than the Shikai's ability. Because of this, even with his large pool of Reiryoku, continuous use will cause him to become drained, weak, and unable to fight.
Techniques:
Name: Avalanche
Effect: This is said to be Hiei's strongest ability in his Shikai state. Firstly, he manipulates the snow he has created into a whirlwind around the opponent. If they try to escape from the sides, the snow will cut and freeze them on contact. Shortly after this has initiated, Hiei appears above the whirling mass of snow and swings his sword. A large crescent wave of snow is then created, shooting towards the floor of the creation. If contact is made, the opponent is literally crushed by three tonnes of pressure. However, if the opponent gets out of the top before Hiei gets there, they will be able to completely avoid any damage. As well as this, the attack can be dodged while inside, but it is considerably more difficult. (Note: If escaping from the sides, only where the snow touches will cut and freeze.)
Weakness: This ability has to use an excessive amount of snow in order to achieve the desired effect. As such, this ability drains Reiryoku quite quickly, and is not suitable for continuous use.
Cooldown: 3 posts
Name: Shell of Ice
Effect: A simple technique using the Manipulation of his Snow to great effect. He firstly utilizes the Shikai's ability, in order to create the snow to fuel the attack. As he does, it stops just a meter away from him and forms a wall. This wall can protect against Kido up to level 33 (Sokatsui). Attacks made above this level are weakened by that amount.
Weakness: Once this is used, the shell cannot be moved. As such, there is only one option for defense, and it is quite easily moved around. This limits its uses to, preferably, long range attacks. This shatters instantly if an attack hits it which is stronger than its withstanding limit. Opponents significantly stronger than Hiei can destroy this with even a Byakurai (#4).
The Method of Release: Upon speaking the word "Ban-Kai", all the snow that has been created up until that point flies towards him. These snowflakes have the same tendencies as when they were created, meaning the opponent wants to get some distance between the two of them once he has activated it. Upon reaching Hiei, the snow begins to form a sphere around him. If there isn't enough snow, the sword creates more in order to account for this.
Once he has been entirely covered, the snow explodes, revealing the final state of Hiei's Zanpaktou. The exploding snow is at Bankai level, and is much more deadly than his Shikai state. There are no changes in his clothing in any state.
Bankai Appearance:
By her side, at all times, is her sword. This weapon is her prized possession, and is said to have inspired the legend of Excalibur. A weapon so light, yet so strong its name would echo through the ages. Its hilt is both incredibly magnificent and elegant. ^Taken from Khione's Description
This is the blade that Hiei wields whilst in Bankai. However, there is one very subtle difference. The markings that are engraved into the blade are not visible, to the point they are non-existent. (These will only come out when Hiei learns a technique to activate them. Currently, only the inner hollow has access to the technique that utilizes these.)
The Abilities of Bankai: Hiei's abilities tend to stay the same, with the obvious power increases that take place from Shikai to Bankai. The snow that is created could now completely freeze an entire opponent while before it would be hard to freeze a limb. Cutting power has increased. The blade itself is lighter.
The techniques used in Shikai are now improved. Stronger and more devastating.
Techniques:
Name: Kyousei Avalanche (Great Avalanche)
Effect: The Bankai form of Hiei's technique "Avalanche". The set up remains the same, however, the snow that is created in the whirlwind is much stronger, and has the potential to completely freeze limbs with ease. When he appears above, he swings his sword three times. Each time, a crescent wave of snow crushes down towards the target. These blasts EACH generate six tonnes of pressure, or eighteen tonnes if all three hit.
Weakness: Same as Avalanch
Name: Kyousei Shell of Ice
Effect: The Bankai form of Hiei's technique "Shell of Ice". Once the shell is created, it can now stop Kido up to level 63 (Raikoho). Attacks above this level are weakened by an amount equal to this amount.
Weakness: Same as Avalanch
Name: Shin Megami Tensei (True Goddess Reincarnation)
Effect: The user firstly places his hand at the bottom of the blade. Moving their fingers across the blade, the markings appear on the blade once more. Upon doing so, the users abilities are increased to a heightened state, tapping into the true power of The Frozen Goddess. The snow that is created can literally cut through steel, meaning it could effective destroy the body of any race. Kyousei Avalanch's pressure is now doubled (From six tonnes to twelve per slash). Kyousei Shell of Ice can now stop Kido up to level 88.
Weaknesses and Limitations: Firstly, the limitations to such a potentially devastating technique. The first and most obvious is the fact that Hiei cannot use this without the help of his inner hollow. As well as this, after three posts of using the technique, the Bankai automatically ends. This leaves the user feeling weak and powerless, their Reiryoku being drained to around 10%. As such, this should only be utilized if no other options are available.
The Darker Side
^Credit goes to Iron Fox on Deviant Art... I liked the picture and am using it here, so it would only be right to comment on him on this.
When Hiei's inner hollow takes over, several fragments form together in front of his face, until it begins to cover his face. If the mask were to fully form, anyone standing before him would witness a truly horrific creature being created from the darkness. The mask itself has the potential to strike fear into the hearts of even the most battle-hardened warriors.
The mask itself is of a strange design, seeming to take the form of a monster a child would have nightmares of as a kid. Its most dominant coloring is white, typical of a Hollow's mask. However, black markings literally cover the outside. There are several changes in the masks thickness, and the black markings seem to correlate with these. This appears to give the mask a sharper look, almost like a mountain that has suffered years of abuse.
The outside of the mask is incredibly jagged. At the cheek, three spikes point in three different directions. However, they are equidistant apart, and match symmetrically. The outside jagged edges then move inwards towards a huge set of teeth that grins from one side to the other. These teeth connect the bottom half with the bottom half.
The top section is larger than the bottom, matching the natural curve of the face. The mask continues upwards, widening as it gets further up. Once it reaches the highest point of the mask, it appears to move into a crown. The jaggedness from the jaw section of the mask continues at this point, continuing around his head with several spikes. His eye holes precisely the right size for his eye's, allow him to see the outside world in perfect clarity. When his mask is donned, his naturally red eye's turn into a brownish / yellowish color.
During a half-mask take-over, the top left quarter of the mask is all that initially shows, followed by the bottom left.
However, when Hiei talks the mouth moves with it. As such, it appears that the bottom and top half of the mask are completely separate.

The Historic Origin.
History: The Sumiyoshi Legend / Curse: How it came to be
The Sumiyoshi family always had trouble producing males. There was something in their bodies that only gave them at least a ninety five percent chance of having a baby girl. However, there was always a male born every other generation. The males of the family always had superior Reiryoku, thus making them excellent candidates for the Shinigami Academy. However, upon the third male child to ever be born, something changed their history for good.
This child was named Hiei (The first), and was the first and only member of their family to reach Captaincy. His power was beyond comparison compared to most Shinigami, of course, but he was a little different. The division he came to look over was the twelfth, research and development. As the years continued to pass, his inventions were gradually moving in to the insane category. In his one hundredth year as a Captain, he created a substance from Hollow blood. The theory was that if a Shinigami drank it, they would be immune to their attacks. Or so he thought.
It was that very year his family was introduced to the newest member of their family. Another male child. However, this child would be the subject of experimentation. Unknown to the rest of the family, upon his seventh birthday, Hiei injected the child with the Hollow Essence Immunization. Such irony. The effects of this were, however, very odd. The second it entered the blood stream, the child fell into a deep sleep, lasting for three days. Nobody questioned this, as Hiei said this always happened on the males seventh birthday. However, after these few days, there seemed to be nothing else happen. Even Hiei's tests failed to produce the results he had hoped for. He had managed to replicate the effects of Hollow attacks, of which none didn't have the desired effect on the child. All the attacks hit as hard as they would for anyone. This vial, was a failure.
Years continued to pass, the child now becoming a man. Joining the twelth division, he quickly flew through the ranks and become their Lieutenant, under his uncle. His name was Zeikke. However, at this time, something within him was growing. Training with Hiei, he became a creature that was never seen before, at least by the twelfth's eye's. However, he smirked. He found out the effects of the Hollow Essence Immunization he had invented all those years before. He was turning his Nephew into a Hollow.
And thus, the creation of the Sumiyoshi Curse came to be. Hiei said that any male would be born with the potential to destroy the world, or save it. To prove his point, he revealed to his family Zeikke, in a masked state. With one blow, he cut down his own Nephew. He said that this was a curse that was carried through their veins, and those with the mask shall destroy everything they held close to them. A man like him would save them from such a monstrosity. As such, he asked them that upon a male childs seventh birthday, they were injected with HEI. It would subdue the beast. If the beast wasn't stopped, the child would die by their family's hand.
However, this sight brewed a deep scar within the Sumiyoshi family. The fear that such a child could become such a vile creature meant that for several centuries, no male had lived past their seventh birthday. The legend was created.
"A boy by name of Sumiyoshi, A curse that runs through his veins. Death is the final outcome. Be they save thy world or destroy it, their mask shall linger on."
In the words of Sumiyoshi Hiei the First: "The child much be injected with the sacred substance that lies within the basement. Only by doing so will you subdue the beast and be able to be free of the curse."
Rumor states that he made this so his name would live forever within the family. His mind had became nothing more than an insane mess of its previous self. He wanted to be the special one, and installed such a fear in his family that he would be the only one who's name would go down in history. He died several years ago by unknown means.
How the HEI works: When the child falls asleep when exposed to this substance, be through injection or somehow placed into the body, nothing seems to change. However, as their Reiryoku grows as they get older, it appears to work like an egg hatching. Once they reach a certain level of power, around a third seats strength, an inner hollow is produced. These are exact opposites of their true selves, and will try to take over the body until a king has been picked.
The birth
Hiei was born as the fifth ever son of the Sumiyoshi Family, one of the lesser known noble family's in the Soul Society. However, his birth was nothing more than an omen to those who witnessed it. The Sumiyoshi family was one that gave birth to only girls, and the birth of a male child within the family could mean only one thing. This child would have the power to save, or destroy the world. The only thing they could do was to do as the legend said they must do if such an inevitability were to occur. To kill the child. This was to be done on the child's seventh birthday, or the entire family would die.
And as such, he lived the life of a normal child, being raised up not knowing of his inevitable death, or his family's despise of him. However, he was often left to his own devices, living without the feeling of love being taught to him. It was due to this, however, his own heart opened up to the outside world, becoming an incredibly loving young boy, who regularly wondered off outside to help insignificant creatures who were going to die.
Time passed quickly, however, and on the night before his seventh birthday his dinner had been injected with a form of sleeping mixture. This was to put him in, of course, a deep sleep, and enable their ritual to begin. Hiei remembers nothing of this moment, only a voice as he came to. A male voice, and a voice he would never hear again. Instead, he woke up several days later in the Squad Four Barracks. He had recovered from the effects of the poisoning, and was gradually getting back to his previous state and much, much more. He was taken to the fourth division to recover for one reason, it was said that his spiritual pressure was through the roof. He would be an excellent candidate for the Shinigami Academy.
Shingami Academy
Several years had passed. Hiei was introduced to the Shinigami Academy at the young age of 50, considerably younger than any one there. However, that did not stop him from progressing at a relatively rapid rate. It was quite apparent to many of the instructors that his Spiritual Pressure was rising year by year, and that his speed was definitely an incredible asset. Heck, even his skill in hand to hand combat and Zanjutsu were above most. In Kido, he was a slow learner. However, even as slow a learner as he was, once he mastered a Kido, he was incredibly effective with it. It was assumed that if he could learn to do something, he would be able to utilize what he had learned at the highest possible level.
After one hundred years, he had progressed into the Gotei 13, aged 150. His immediate seat was fifth, in the Seventh Division. This man was one of the few gifted enough to take a high seat upon entering the Gotei 13. Many were jealous, and rightfully so. But alas, they didn't say anything. They too could see the evolution of his abilities. He had already released his Shikai, and was gradually proving himself to be a formidable Hollow Slayer.
Gotei 13: Squad 7
There was one mission that was considerably noteworthy. He was sent to earth, to defend a small town against attacks from Hollow. The position would last for only a month, but during that time there was many an attack. Each and every one was defeated by his hands. Until, that is, that fateful day. Something came through a Garganta, far stronger than a normal Hollow. An Adjuchas. An evolution of a Gillian, with powers said to rival that of the newer Captains. Being the only man there, Hiei stepped up to subdue the attack and defend the spirits of this small town. However, no matter how much potential he had, he wasn't strong enough yet. He fought hard, but in the end, found himself at the mercy of the Shinigami enemy.
Luckily, however, the moment before the final blow could be struck, a Captain appeared. The Captain of the Fifth Division. This man saved Hiei, but had seen enough to want him in his division. Upon returning to Soul Society, Hiei joined the Fifth Squad.
Squad 5
Several years had passed, Hiei eventually reaching the rank of Lieutenant in the Fifth division. During this time, he found himself wondering more and more about the Hollow-kind, for reasons even he could not quite understand. It was during this time he had eventually returned to the Sumiyoshi House, and asked them why he was intended to be put to death by the age of seven. What was revealed was a truly frightening situation.
The Sumiyoshi Family had a curse running deep within their veins. It was said that any male born into the family would turn to the darkness, and be consumed by a power far beyond their own reasoning. Death was certain, be it the death of the child, the death of all evil, or the death of the world. The risk was not worth the reward, and they had to destroy them in order to end that risk. But that risk was out in the world now, and it was too late for them to do anything.
Hiei, however, shrugged this off. He didn't believe what they had to say. Legends were just that, legends. He continued his life in the Fifth squad happily for the next few years.
The fruits of his labour
Another ten years had passed, and Hiei had begun to learn his Bankai. The final state of Shinigami prowess. The meeting with his family was now nothing more than a distant memory, and becoming the best he could be was the only thing on Hiei's mind. This, is where his story continues.
Something took hold of him. Something controlled his body that wasn't him. And for only a few moments, his abilities were at their theoretical maximum. As the final blow was dealt, white dust shattered to the ground, disappearing into the darkness. It had awakened.
Sixty Years later - Exile
He still couldn't control the darkness within him. It would come out whenever he used his Bankai's highest level of ability. This proved to be an issue that would change his life forever. Once again being sent to Karakura Town, he ended up in a battle with... Something else. Something far more powerful than he could have ever imagined. And this was the thoughts of a man considered to be a likely candidate for Captaincy. This creature? An Arrancar, but this one had something very unique about it. The number five.
An Arrancar, making their presence known to the outside world. He had only seen one before, and he knew one thing. These beasts were potentially more powerful than the Captains of Soul Society. A Hollow who had finally progressed to the stage where it could remove its mask. Moving to do battle, Hiei found himself far tighter on the defensive aspect than he had ever been. Every attack was a challenge, and every movement he made seemed that little bit slower than his opponent. Before long, he knew he had to call out his Bankai.
And for a while, that was enough. He had the upper hand, and had even managed to get a couple of strong blows on the beast itself. However, the Arrancar had another ace up its sleeve. "Resurreccion". Upon releasing its own Zanpaktou, it truly began to overpower Hiei. Every attack he made felt like nothing. And, unlike before, every attack being used on him he knew could be his last. That's when he heard 'his' voice. The voice of the darkness that found itself tucked tightly into his soul. To live, they needed each other. However, Hiei wouldn't allow his body to be taken over again.
"It doesn't matter anyway... Your body shall be mine soon enough."
Hiei continued to fight hard, before utilizing a technique which placed a frosty barrier between him and his opponent. He could feel him taking over. He had used his Bankai for long enough now that his help was needed. The mask formed upon his face.
The next thing he knew, he was kneeling on the floor. Gasping for air, every part of his body was in pain. I had been used to its highest possible point, and he was exhausted. The Arrancar was nowhere to be seen, but Hiei knew that eventually they would make an appearance again. He had to learn to control this power, otherwise next time he might not wake up. Then he saw something he really didn't want to see. A female, a Shinigami no less, watching over him. She had seen everything. But Hiei had one advantage on his side, she was afraid. Scared that he would come for her. Shaking his head, he simply said the last words he has been recorded saying.
"Tell Soul Society I said goodbye... And thank you."
A new start
As the years continued to pass, he wandered the world of the living. He fought Hollows, and kept the world as safe as he possibly could. However, he was still being haunted by the voice in his head. He had to find someone to help him, but who would know what to do? He found himself listening to rumors of a masked group of Rogue Shinigami, who's powers rivaled that of gods. As time continued to pass, he found himself beginning a journey to find these people, and to know if his power could really be controlled. Today, he is still searching for the masked. The Vizard.
The Others:
Rp Example: A giant ball of fire rose into the air, spreading its rays of light through Karakura Town. The sun, the creation of warmth and, more importantly, life. As it sat in the sky, a gentle breeze whistled through the streets. Through the alleys. Even through some of the letter boxes of houses it passed. As children came out for their morning run to school, the wind continued, caressing the cheeks of each and every individual it swept by. As it continued its journey, the leaves of fall joined in the party.
And as quickly as it came, it faded into nothingness. Some would consider the sudden end of the wind an oddity, while others would consider it the circle of life. No king could live forever, and nothing could last an eternity. With its dying breath, it came upon a male figure standing before a giant creature. The creature was surely a monstrosity, creating puddles of saliva as it flowed from its fiendish mouth. With each drop that touched the floor, the ground seemed to melt beneath it. However, no matter what this creatures powers were, it was nothing more than a Hollow. The cancer of the spiritual world. It was large, but somewhat shapeless. However, its mask was definitely an oddity. It appeared to have the same kind of face as a Gillian Class Menos, and as such, it could be likely that this would be a far more intensive fight than most Shinigami could handle.
However, the man standing before this creature? He was no ordinary Shinigami. A smirk growing on his thin lips, the man pushed his bandaged wrapped hand forwards. "Hado #4: Byakurai." As he spoke, a strike of electricity ripped through the air, the sound of a thunder strike snapping at the same time. As it swept forwards, it covered the gap between the two in a matter of milliseconds. However, as it came into contact with the Hollows body, something became quite apparent to this Shinigami. Its body was intangible, the only weakness was likely the head. His smirk turning to a grin, the man flicked his long, flowing black hair to one side. It was something he had never came up against before, but because of that, he was even more excited. Perhaps this creature could prove to be of some worth. And after he had purified it, another spirit would join Rukongai. Another potential Shinigami who could become great.
Leaning backwards, his back foot pressed into the floor. Within a single movement, he appeared above the head of his target. Swinging his blade with both hands, he sliced through the mask of the beast, before an illuminating light shined over the area. His mission was a success. Perhaps he was going to get that captains promotion after all, he thought. The smile fading from his face, he swung his blade to one side, before sheathing it once more. This Shinigami's name was Sumiyoshi Hiei, and his long journey had just begun...

This is a sample of what I would consider an "Average" post, although personally I consider it a bit below my average in both quality and length due to writers block :<.
At best, I will probably write something along the lines of;

Earth. A pitiful place by even the most enthusiastic of standards. War, chaos, disorder and hatred decorated the surface like icing on a pudding. A tragedy, really, but alas, even if it was as bad as some believed, it was still the Shinigami's goal to take the spirits of the deseased to the 'heaven' that was Soul Society. But no matter how awful a place it could be, it was also a great place to live, atleast he had heard from those whom had lived there before. What was it that made this place so magical? Why couldn't pulses continue on there way without a Shinigami? And what was it that made the spirits long to stay there? A mystery shrouded by a cloak.
Standing to the right of the fabled leader of the Vizard, Methias folded his arms across his chest. This man was the second in command of the Vizard, and arguably the man with the most ways to fight. He could use Systema, he could fight amazingly with two swords, and he even mastered the art of using a single, huge broadsword. Truly a weapons master, in any sense of the phrase. He was truly a fantastic weapon to have on their side aswell, capable of learning many things in the most incredible of speeds known to the outside world. This was clear in his analytic capabilities. He could see through most enemy tactics and retaliate in a single moment. Many were in awe of his excellent mind, and even more feared it. And these few words were but the truth. This man was the former Captain of the Sixth Squad for all the right reasons.
Those who gazed upon him would be greeted with an almighty beauty. He was pretty boy, and what his techniques couldn't do to the female members of the Espada, his looks certainly could. With a perfectly proportioned face, long, heart stopping, jet black hair, and a pair of the deepest red eye's man has ever laid eye's upon, he was certainly capable of making many a woman weak in the legs. However, it was not only his face that could melt a womans urge for battle. No, it was what he had beneath his head that most paid attention to. On his shoulders, he wore a black leather Trench-coat, in the same manner as his best friend. However, he instead wore nothing beneath this, his toned chest and stomach being revealed to the outside world as he knelt down, looking over the city of New York.
"A glorious night for a fight. Wouldn't you agree?" a voice from his left called out. Armond had finally opened his thin lips. Soft, even, elegant. A few choice words that Methias truly thought of his masters voice at this time. Methias knew he didn't have to answer the question, and he didn't. He wasn't one to speak during a battle unless it was completely required of him. It was useless. Words were not actions, and actions determined the inevitable outcome of battle. Placing his hand on the floor, he continued to peer out into the horizon, awaiting for that one moment where the Espada would finally reveal themselves. Already, the Hollow kind was prancing around the city in all it's disgusting glory.
Watching as Armond released both Chevalier's and Tai's seals, Methias couldn't help but remember that he himself had no such thing. He was supposedly the second strongest of the Vizard, beneath only Armond himself, and because of this, he apparently knew how and when to use his powers. A pity to those who found themselves standing at the wrong end of the battlefield. As the seals broke, the two others were able to use the full extent of their abilities. This meant possible Hollow transformations, and a definately plus for the Shinigami. They needed all the help they could get, according to the scattered bodies of many lying lifeless on the ground, blood decorating the sky.
His eye's widening, Methias immediately noticed the General Commander making his grand appearance. While Methias was the Sixth Division Captain for several years, most Shinigami thought he was nothing more than dead. Even Armond hadn't revealed his life to anyone. This gave them the element of surprise, atleast in numbers, and in strength. And because of this, it was very unlikely Shin would even notice his appearance. Moving to a standing position, the enemy had finally arrived. The leader of the Espada, the nameless Arrancar bastard that started this war. Methias was definately weaker in terms of Reiryoku, but that wouldn't stop him making his move. Drawing out his dual Zanpaktou, he spun them beside him, barely missing Armond, although it was unlikely Armond would even attempt to dodge with the trust these two had developed over the years. Simply nodding at Armonds second comment, Methias disappeared from sight. He wasn't one to stay in a group, so it wasn't going to surprise anyone. Before the wooshing sound had even finished, Methias was far too far away from the other Vizard for most to notice him.
Moving at blistering speed, Methias soon found himself noticing a single Espada, a number 5 tatoo'd on his very noticable face. Methias had found his first target. Even though this wasn't the strongest of Espada, Methias knew that taking out the middle men would allow for the others to have an easier time. His job was simple, kill it until it died. Laughing outloud at his joke, he grinned as the fifth Espada noticed him. Both eyebrows raising, he made a taunting gesture, releasing his Reiatsu into the atmosphere. This was clearly stronger than 'most Captains' Reiatsu, and it wasn't even at his peak, considering the distinct lack of a Hollow Mask. Spinning his blades around him once more, Methias disappeared from sight, his time spent in the Second Squad clearly not wasted.
Appearing behind his target, Methias swung one blade towards the back of the enemies knee's, and the second was lunged towards its chest. However, this Espada was definately as quick as Methias when it came to thinking of ways to fight against an enemy. He felt his eye's widen as the Fifth Espada flipped sideways, evading both attacks, and as Methias had reached the pinacle of his attack, he was in a prime counterattack-worthy position. A blade then came towards Methias' left eye, a quick thought entering his head as he tilted slightly, the blade barely missing his seductive skin. "Hmpth, I do love how this King doesn't consider me a threat. Ah well, just time to prove him wrong." He said, noticing how another Two Espada were being sent to the Vizard Leaders position. As he spoke, he spun around on the spot, raising his blades as he did, creating a whirlwind of steel and death. Another swift dodge from the Fifth Espada, and the battle was truly on the way.
"Perhaps it's because you are weak enough to not be considered a threat." was the next piece of useless information to escape the Fifth Espada's mouth, a light laughter following from it. However, as the idiot spoke, it seemed to notice a distinct pain in its stomach. Looking down, Methias had pierced through his hip with a ferocious lunge, at such a speed it could barely be followed by even the most trained eye's in the world. "Then perhaps I shall finally reveal myself. Second in Command of the Vizard, and the man who soon shall be your doom. Methias Stelligar, and you're pretty fucked." He replied, as he removed his blade from the Fifth Espada's body, before making distance between them once more. "Come to me, Milla et Molla."
And with a sudden burst of power, Methias' blades both disappeared, revealing in their place a pair of gloves. It was definately unusual for most standards. The uniqueness that was a Dual Zanpaktou becoming a pair of gloves was definately on most people's minds, atleast those watching. They were made of a hardened alloy, one that seemed to not bother Methias at all as he lunged out and made a light jab in the air. Most would assume he felt no pain while using these gloves, which was odd considering the very hard metal they were made from. Now was time for things to get interesting, atleast many would assume. But alas, this Vizard had a strategy that most, oddly, didn't consider, and his actions that followed would reveal them to the outside world.
Blasting forwards at high speed, the Arrancar came into close range of Methias, thrusting a first towards his face. Without even blinking, Methias grasped hold of the hand that was coming at him, all the while moving his own leg towards his opponents shin. Then, by placing all his weight onto the foot, a horrific snapping noise echoed through the city of New York as the Arrancars leg snapped into two, bone ripping through flesh, blood bursting out onto the street. Nobody could've seen this attack coming. Systema, Methias' favorite fighting style, and the most deadly hand to hand combat system imaginable. Winking as he still had the man in his hand, he kicked out, the Arrancar then falling to the ground, before revealing its own Zanpaktou.
However, Methias already expected this, and while still holing onto the hand, Methias kicked it with great ferocity on the blunt side, sending the blade several meters away, and the Arrancar was now at the mercy of the apparently ruthless Vizard. Then, it happened. Both of Methias' gloves glowed, before a huge amount of wind and fire energy manifested itself utop the Arrancar, just before Methias. The heat was quite apparent as the fire began to cook the Fifth Espada alive. The living cremation slowly lost life, the first of many Espada deaths becoming quite apparent. Methias' plan was clear. Kill them before they can release their Resurreccion, making them considerably easier to handle. One down, nine to go. Then, onto the big boss. Fading away once more, Methias appeared atop a high building, and scanned the area for his next target.

^ Taken from Bleach BC. There are some subtle differences in the characters, but the personality and appearance is generally the same. This whole section was against an NPC, and doesn't show how I would be in a fight in any way, shape or form... It was pretty much made to make me feel big... <.<
Other Needed Info: I'm intense... Just a little part about how he obtained the Inner Hollow to clear any confusion. He was effectively injected with Hollow Blood which shattered his DNA. This gave him the ability to become a Vizard, his DNA manipulated to the point where he could utilize Hollow Abilities. Personally, I see this as a non-issue, as the inner hollow is, from what I could gather, your hollow abilities in a manifested form. It honestly just seemed more interesting than "Hogyoku lol"... But I will change and modify to your request.
